![]() OK, so they could be getting the hardware built by one of the existing big players (or factories that also supply the big players or whatever) and it could turn out to be a fantastic new product that really blows the competition away. It's fairly new to the market and, compared to Focusrite or RME, NI have no track record when it comes to audio interfaces. The NI Komplete Audio 6 is pretty much an unknown to me. Now, the important point here is that I haven't personally used any of the three, so I'm just going on things I've read or heard from others. I think, to the average user, all of the interfaces would work and do the job well enough for you at the moment. How do you think the saffire or the komplete would sound (to the average user) compared to the babyface? On vocals, with a st77 mic and a decent booth and mix. Thank you.I don't have a whole lot of experience with all this. And certainly not based on the word of someone who's just trying to make a sale. So even if the Komplete 6 does use the same converters as the Babyface, it doesn't necessarily mean it will work them as well. For example, the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 and the Apogee Ensemble use the same converter chips, but if you look at the AD-DA shoot-out thread over in the Audio tests sub-forum here on GS, the Ensemble scores well for transparent and clean conversion, whereas the LS56 appears to mash the living hell out of things and is right at the bottom of the table for conversion transparency. All the other circuitry around the converters makes a difference too. Lots of interfaces use the same converter chips, but it doesn't mean they're going to sound the same in terms of signal quality or transparency. Not that I know the Komplete at all - it's pretty new and may indeed be a stunning new entry into the market - but I suspect the RME will beat it hands down. ![]() I suspect they were being economical with the truth and just trying to shift the NI gear onto you. The RME Babyface, the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6, and the Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP? I want the Saffire, but if the qaulity is that much better on the babyface, i would force myself to save.but if the komplete 6 sound just as good, then I could just go with that. Is this true? How is this possible with almost a $500 price difference? were they just bullshittin me? Anyone with experince, how do these all compare, simply on vocal qauilty.the most profesional, clear sound.to the average listener. They said the Saffire is good.but the Komplete Audio 6 would sound almost exactly the same as the Babyface. They told me to go with the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6, They said it's a secret.but it has the same exact converter's and preamps as the RME Babyface, and that RME made them. So I went to Guitar Center today and asked about the Focusrite Saffire 24 DSP, as this is a very attractive interface and it's in my price range, but I haven't heard how it sounds on vocals, so I asked them how would it compare to the RME Babyface, as this sound's amazing on vocal's, but is wayyy out of my price range. ![]()
